Escola is co-creating AI VET - a European project that teaches vocational schools how to use artificial intelligence
We are one of the seven partners of the AI VET (Artificial Intelligence for Vocational Education and Training) project, implemented under the Erasmus+ program in the Cooperation partnerships in vocational education and training action, no. 2024-1-PL01-KA220-VET-000253747. The consortium consists of vocational schools, non-governmental organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and e-learning specialists from Poland, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
The premise of the project
A vocational education teacher does not need to be an artificial intelligence expert to prepare students for work in a world where this technology is already present. They need tools described in understandable language and embedded in their daily work. Vocational schools across Europe face the same problem: qualifications and curricula do not keep up with labor market demands, and the staff is looking for support not so much in explaining what AI is, but in showing how to use it practically, ethically, and without a sense of risk.
The work began with a transnational needs assessment of vocational education institutions in four countries, which highlighted digitalization barriers and competency gaps. The materials were developed only on this basis.
What is available
All results have been gathered on the platform www.aivet-training.eu. They are free, available without registration in four languages (Polish, English, Spanish, and Italian), and published under an open educational resources license, so they can be downloaded, adapted, and used in your own classes, provided the source is cited.

The platform consists of a repository of 50 AI tools divided into four categories (content creation and processing, learning and training support, data analysis and problem-solving, simulations and immersive technologies), needs mapping results, a glossary of terms, and seven training modules:
1. Basic concepts of artificial intelligence for vocational education teachers (FDSM).
2. Using AI tools in a connected way for effective lessons (IAL).
3. Using data to improve teaching (ADN).
4. Creating personalized learning using artificial intelligence (Escola).
5. Facilitating work with AI tools (ITSFA).
6. A renewed AI-based approach to skills analysis and intelligence (IHF).
7. Introducing innovations to vocational education and training using artificial intelligence (IDP).

Each module features described learning outcomes, case studies, and references to the DigComp 2.2 and EntreComp frameworks. The materials can be completed online or downloaded as a presentation and a document, and finally, you can test yourself with a quiz.
Escola's contribution
We prepared the module "Creating personalized learning using artificial intelligence," available at: https://www.aivet-training.eu/details.php?id=103&lang=EN It guides the teacher from the basics of personalization, through the anatomy of an adaptive learning path and AI-supported assessment, to a five-step plan for implementing the tool in a school, along with ethics, data privacy, and the most common barriers. A separate section covers what drives personalization—namely, data collected about student progress—and specialized AI tools for various branches of vocational education. We also described Polish examples of personalized teaching, including InstaLing, Codility, ChatHeroes Academy, and BASIA from MindEasy
Who is it for
The materials are aimed at vocational education teachers and trainers, training institutions and adult education centers, curriculum designers, as well as decision-makers responsible for education and workforce development. Students and individuals retraining can also use them.
What's next
The training is undergoing validation with the participation of 120 representatives from the vocational education sector. Based on their feedback, guidelines for implementing AI in training will be created, and the materials will remain available on the platform even after the project concludes. For Escola, participating in AI VET means working on the applications of artificial intelligence in education together with vocational education institutions from four countries and verifying in practice which solutions truly help teachers.
